ROMAN CIRCUS AND PRAETORIUM TOWER
Roman circus built between the year 89 and 96 that was of an impressive size in Tarragona
The Roman circus, built between the year 89 and 96, was of an impressive size since it measured 325 m length and 115 m width. Still lower, one finds the tower of the Pretorium. In the 12th century it became the palace of the kings of the Crown of Aragon, before being converted into a prison. Today it exhibits beautiful collections of objects, in particular the sarcophagus of Hippolytus, recovered in 1948 from the waters of the Mediterranean, which dates from the third century.
