CONVENT OF SANTA CLARA
One of the oldest buildings in the city, the convent of Santa Clara built in the thirteenth century in Tortosa
It seems that the construction of this convent dates back to the 13th century, making it one of the oldest buildings in the city and, above all, one of the first convents founded by the Order of Poor Clares. Part of the Gothic foundations were destroyed during the Civil War. The ruins of a Gothic building can be seen, with the pointed arches that once supported the roof of an old church. The superb wings of the gothic cloister, with its succession of tri-lobed arches resting on leaning columns, are also noteworthy.
