SUDA CASTLE
Castle converted into a stately home that offers a beautiful view of the city and the mountains in Tortosa
The castle was built on the ancient Roman acropolis, which was itself located on the central hill of the ancient city. While it still retains traces of the Andalusian era, when the castle had a certain influence (Abd-al-Rahman III had transformed it into a kasbah), the Christian occupation converted it into a royal residence: it served as the royal residence of Jaume I. It was used for military purposes during the following centuries and today its courtyard contains cisterns, naves and powder magazines. Beautiful view of the city and the mountains.
