The most popular area of Tortosa today, a testimony of an important historical period for the city
In 1148 the Call Vell was founded, and in the 13th century the Call Nou followed. The narrow streets of the old Jewish quarter begin behind the Parador, from the Plaça de la Immaculada Concepció. Today, it is the popular district of Tortosa. Although few remains have survived, this neighborhood is a testimony to an important historical period for the city. Guided tours are organized by the tourist office. Another option is Pili Cugat, a Catalan guide who offers dramatized tours of the neighborhood. More information on www.lajuevadetortosa.es
