The walls of La Peñíscola offer three main entrances to the city: the Portal Fosc (literally «dark door»), of Renaissance style, whose construction dates back to the th century; the Portal de San Pere, also known as the "Portal of Papa Luna", which Pope Benedict III was building in 1414; and the Portal of Socorro, connecting the old port to the castle.
