A vestige of the Roman era dug into the rock that can accommodate up to 4,000 people on its three rows of terraces
Carved into the rock on one of the hillsides where the castle stands, it is a vestige of the Roman era and was built in the first century. With a capacity of up to 4,000 people on its three rows of terraces, it was renovated in the middle of the 20th century to offer open-air shows. Declared a National Monument in 1896, it hosts various artistic and cultural events, music, dance and the Sagunt A Escena festival, a prestigious theater festival (www.saguntum.es).
