Built in the nineteenth century, the Teatro Principal was the first theater built in the city of Valencia and was once the main opera house in Valencia. It was renovated in the nineties to make it more modern and accessible. Since the creation of the Palau de les Arts, which brings together all the opera programming, the Teatro Principal has mainly hosted dance and theater performances. The auditorium has a capacity of 1,200 spectators and is richly decorated in rococo style.
