Animals from the African savannah, equatorial Africa and Madagascar in a biopark in the heart of Valencia.

Located at the western end of the Turia Gardens, in Cabecera Park, the Biopark is a zoo in the heart of the city that covers more than 100,000m2. Inaugurated in 2008, the Biopark offers a new concept of "zoo immersion" where the visitor is immersed in the habitat of the animals, and not the other way round. You will quickly see this during the visit: the fences have been replaced by natural barriers that give the feeling of being truly immersed in the animals. The whole zoo has been imagined as a staging of animal life, where each space corresponds to a true picture of nature: Madagascar, the savannah and equatorial Africa. Replicas of large rocks, caves and giant baobabs plunge the visitor into the heart of Africa. All this staging work is aimed at raising the visitor's awareness of the importance of the environment through education and animal conservation. This is the big difference between a traditional zoo and the Biopark: although people come to see animals, the park's primary aim is to create awareness among visitors. The route is organized around three large areas where you can discover the species specific to each habitat:

African Savannah: In addition to zebras, giraffes, white rhinos and lions, you can see a group of huge African elephants. You will be lucky if you arrive at the bathing time, it is an exceptional moment!

Equatorial Africa: This is where the leopard and the chimpanzee are found, but the star of the place is undoubtedly the gorilla. Ask about their feeding times, it's the best way to see the gorillas up close.

Madagascar : it is here that 7 different species of lemurs, a kind of small monkeys typical of Madagascar, are gathered, which walk freely among the visitors. There is also an interpretation centre that retraces the extinction processes that took place on the island during the 17th century.
