CO-CATHEDRAL OF SAN NICOLÁS
Co-cathedral, between Renaissance and Herrerian style, with a magnificent cloister and a remarkable chapel in Alicante.
The construction of this co-cathedral began in 1600 and was completed in 1662. It symbolizes a particular style, between the Renaissance and the so-called Herreriano, named after a Spanish architect who marked the transition from the Plateresque style to the Renaissance and to whom we owe the realization of the Escorial. It also contains a magnificent 15th century cloister and a chapel, the Chapel of the Communion, considered one of the most beautiful examples of Spanish Baroque, which is located under the blue dome of the cathedral, which stands 45 meters high. Also noteworthy is the richness of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
