SEMANA SANTA MUSEUM
Museum on the former convent of La Merced, an exhibition hall in the shape of a church in Orihuela.
The building that houses this museum was built in two stages. Inaugurated at Easter 1985, the first part was built over the old Convent of La Merced, of which the façade of the church remains. Today it is an exhibition hall in the form of a church with three naves, with exhibitions of pasos (portable altars) in the side naves. Inaugurated in 2003, the expansion of the previous space doubled the exhibition capacity. In total, it houses 25 processional groups, some of which are the work of the great sculptor Francisco Salzillo.
