TIN HAU TEMPLE
Built in 1266, it is the oldest temple in Hong Kong
The Tin Hau Temple in Joss House Bay, built in 1266, is Hong Kong's oldest temple, dedicated to Tin Hau, goddess of the sea. Located in a peaceful seaside setting, it remains a place of pilgrimage for fishermen and sailors. To the right of the temple, a path leads to a historic rock protected by glass. It bears an inscription of 108 Chinese characters, engraved in 1274 to commemorate the visit of an official. This seaside site combines spirituality, history and nature. It is accessible via various trails in Clearwater Bay Country Park.
