HONG KONG PALACE MUSEUM

Along with its neighbor, the M+, it's one of Hong Kong's newest museums, and already a must-see! Opening in 2022, the Palace Museum is a real eye-catcher! Inspired by the famous Forbidden City in Beijing, this museum plunges us into China's imperial history, while at the same time being rooted in Hong Kong's dynamism.

The collections. Inside, we discover a fascinating collection of 900 objects on loan from the Forbidden City, as well as an impressive collection of Chinese ceramics and 13 pieces on loan from the Musée du Louvre. A particular highlight is Gallery 2, which retraces the day of an ^18th-century Emperor in the Forbidden City through sublime everyday objects. Temporary exhibitions are also always of excellent quality.

The museum'sarchitecture is equally captivating. The entrance pavilion frames a square reminiscent of the Forbidden City's majestic gates. The floor, paved with a sinuous glass platform, evokes a golden river, symbolizing the one in front of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Inside, three atriums rise skyward, a nod to Hong Kong's verticality. The undulating bronze ceiling evokes the golden roofs of the Beijing palace, creating a sumptuous ambience. The shape of the building always raises questions: a tripod or a sailboat?

The Palace Museum is therefore a place where Chinese history and art meet modernity, and it's an experience not to be missed on your trip!
