LEI CHENG UK HAN TOMB
This tomb, dating from the Han dynasty, is protected by a glass structure that allows visitors to see inside
The Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb, discovered by chance in 1955 on a building site in Sham Shui Po, dates back almost two thousand years to the Han dynasty (25-220 A.D.). The four-room brick structure is a unique archaeological treasure in Hong Kong. Although access to the tomb is forbidden in order to preserve it, the interior and its engravings can be admired through a glass window. Funerary objects discovered on site, in pottery and bronze, are displayed in the adjoining gallery, offering a fascinating insight into the funerary rites of the period.
