JAO TSUNG I ACADEMY
Group of buildings housing museums, exhibitions and workshops, free to visit
The Jao Tsung-I Academy is a cultural center dedicated to the promotion of Chinese culture, not far from Sham Shui Po. Set in a verdant park, it occupies restored colonial buildings that have served in the past as a customs factory, quarantine station, prison, hospital for infectious diseases and psychiatric hospital, among others. Today, it pays tribute to sinologist Jao Tsung-I with exhibitions, workshops, cultural events and a Sunday craft market. An original visit off the tourist trail.
