MANJINGLAN DAI VILLAGE
At the south end of the Manting Lu is the temple of Manting. Opposite is the old quarter of Manjinglan, with its traditional Dai houses on piles, and later on the street, Chunhuan Park. Many restaurants allow you to enjoy delicious local specialities. By entering the village where close to 180 Dai families live, we find ourselves in a veritable maze of beaten clay streets (also used as sewers). Stilts houses are now often surrounded by a concrete wall to prevent chickens and pigs living under homes from escaping and certainly also to prevent intruders from coming. On the terraces on the first floor, where people live, there is always a small lechuza with herbs and citronella, also known as tiger grass, very popular for the kitchen. Tourists can visit a house on the floor and attend a show of songs and dances. At the time of the great Water Festival, they will be blessed by the Dai that aspergent water.
