The Sainte-Chapelle was built in 1883, modelled on the model of Paris. A great admirer of the French capital, Guzmán Blanco was built in three months to replace the chapels destroyed by earthquakes in 1641 and 1812. The oldest, that of San Sebastian, where the first mass of Caracas was known, dates back to the founding of the city in 1567. She was commissioned by Don Diego de Losada to thank the saint for rescuing the city from Indian attacks. The Sainte Chapelle was restored in 1921 after the earthquake of 1900.
