If you're coming from Coro or Barquisimeto, you'll find the world's largest prestressed concrete bridge. A long 8 679 m long and 50 m high in some places, it is the symbol of the capital of Du, since its construction in 1963. Urdaneta, the most famous man of the Zulia, born in Maracaibo in 1788, fought at the age of 22 against the Spanish. General during the war of Independence, he participated in each of his battles and commanded the withdrawal of San Carlos who saved Maracaibo from the destruction, and thus ensured victory in the Battle of Valencia. During the assassination attempt in Bolívar on September 25, 1928, he condemned the death of Santander, and he was sentenced to death by Bannissement. After the war, he became president of the new Great Colombia (5 September 1830) and was forced to exile by supporters of federalism. He will later assume the duties of ambassador before leaving in Paris, in 1845, on the road to Madrid where he was going to sign the official recognition of Venezuela to Spain.
