In August, the great annual festival in Ciudad Bolívar is known in the country. It celebrates the Sapoara, a fish in the Orinoco waters and fish only once in the year. A gastronomic tradition, we prepare it fried, stuffed or grilled. Several days of fairs to celebrate the vibrant fish that come out of the lagoons to climb the main river. Fishing is in honor but today the festival has expanded to include a number of aquatic activities, exhibitions of agricultural products and folklore, but above all rumba and beer! Attention to the crowd. A traditional adage during this festival says that whoever eats sapoara on that day will stay in Guyana and that if he eats his head he will be married to a Guyanese woman.
