THE CATHEDRAL OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST

Built from 1892 and opened in 1910, this Catholic cathedral is a superb example of the rebirth of 13th century art. His plans were drawn by George Gilbert Scott Jr. Its magnificent architecture often leads it to be mistaken for Norwich Cathedral, its much older Anglican counterpart. It is at the end of the day, when the sun penetrates through the stained glass windows and illuminates the altar, that the building is most beautiful.
