NORWICH CASTLE
The first fortifications on the motte were erected from 1067, on the orders of Guillaume the Conqueror who wanted a strong place in Norwich. The dungeon you can see today was built by Henri I between 1120 and 1130. It dominates the city and its surroundings, with a breathtaking view that allowed the alert to ring and start to attack any attack. Despite the warrior aspect of the building, the construction is adorned with Romanesque arcades on its four facades, giving it an entirely original appearance. The attraction also houses a permanent archaeological exhibition, a museum of natural history, temporary exhibitions and a museum of contemporary art.
