PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL
In a beautiful Romanesque style dating back to the th Century, Peterborough Cathedral stands out as a wooden ceiling with diamond, archbishops and saints. Behind the sanctuary is the Saxon sculpture of 780. The building also houses Catherine's tomb in Aragon, the first wife of Henri VIII and Marie Tudor's mother. Mary Stuart's remains went there between 1587 and 1612, before being transferred to Westminster. An exhibition at the entrance reveals the history of the site, its construction, its architectural transformations and the saints to which it is dedicated. Take a look at the Gothic portal to the west, the St Oswald Chapel and the cloister. It is a haven of peace, perhaps the most beautiful and pleasant place in Peterborough.
