WALMER CASTLE
Castle – Château

2024
Just outside Deal, this small, particularly well-preserved castle is surrounded by sublime, well-kept gardens, as is the case throughout Kent. Built during the reign of Henry VIII to protect the coast from the threat of Spanish invasion, it later became an elegant holiday home to Queen Victoria and other famous residents such as Sir Winston Churchill and the Queen Mother. In 2024, only the gardens and café will be open to visitors - find out more online.
