This small local museum, housed in a historic building once used for commercial and industrial purposes, has been tracing the city's maritime past, as well as its social and industrial history, for almost 50 years. Model ships and period artefacts fill the display cabinets, and French visitors will be particularly interested to discover an exhibition on the evacuation of Dunkirk during the Second World War. Smuggling, rescue at sea and the Royal Navy are among the main themes covered.
