Built around 1834, this pub with its white-panelled frontage is typical of southern England and boasts cosy dark wood interiors. Set below the old town, it's not far from the River Rother. It normally serves five local real ales and five ciders. The aim? Try them all before you leave. And the mousses are accompanied by traditional pub fare, always hearty, fatty and comforting. Like a good mac and cheese, British lamb or seafood.
