BODIAM CASTLE
The Bodiam Castle is somewhat isolated in the Sussex countryside but is clearly worth a little detour. It is a fairy tale castle that is reflected in the water and is extremely photogenic. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge and its architecture inspired by that of the French buildings of the time, observed during the Hundred Years War. It was intended to protect itself from invasions from the south through the Rother River. An interesting video explains how to put its armor and a museum tells the story of the places.
