Opened in 1923, the Towner Art Gallery exhibits 5,000 objects of contemporary art, including paintings, watercolors, drawings, prints, sculptures, ceramics and more. Renowned artists such as Grayson Perry have their works on display, and temporary exhibitions are also programmed. The aim at the outset was to create an art gallery for the people. This philosophy is still at the heart of the project, and the gallery attracts over 100,000 visitors a year. It is one of the most important in the South of England.
