The Seacity Museum is dedicated to the maritime world. It tells the story of the sinking of the Titanic - for which Southampton was the port of departure after the ship was built in Belfast - through the eyes of its crew, most of whom were from Southampton. We also learn about the city's influence on the seas over the centuries, and its role in human migration. A third section is devoted to temporary exhibitions. The museum opened its doors on April 10, 2012, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the departure of the famous RMS Titanic.
