Located in the heart of Southampton's artistic and cultural district, this museum boasts a fine collection of contemporary art. Since its opening in 1939, the museum has regularly organized temporary exhibitions. These range from painting, sculpture and drawing to photography and film. The building also houses a library and a cafeteria on the first floor. It is one of the finest art collections in the South of England, with over 5,000 works from eight different centuries.
