BEAULIEU
In the village of Beaulieu, this large tourist complex brings together several attractions that you can discover with a single ticket. There's also a lovely wooded park on site and shuttles to get around. It's a very pleasant day out with a variety of activities.
Palace House. Built on the foundations of the abbey's janitor's lodge, it has belonged to the Montagu family for 450 years and features fine Victorian Gothic architecture. It was the entrance to the abbey.
Beaulieu Abbey was founded in 1204 by thirty Cistercian monks. It was part of Cîteaux Abbey in France, before being destroyed during the reign of Henry VIII. In one of the remains, an exhibition recounts the daily life of its former occupants and presents a model of the building at the time.
National Motor Museum, where 285 legendary cars await you, from the most original to those that have achieved speed records... Among the collector's items are a series of James Bond cars.
World of Top Gear. Fans of Top Gear, the BBC's 1977 show about cars and motorsport, can come here to see the remains of cars that had the misfortune to pass through the hands of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, the show's various presenters.
Secret Army Exhibition. This exhibition tells the story of Beaulieu during the Second World War, when the site was used as a training camp for UK secret agents.
