At the western end of the Isle of Wight, these Victorian-era fortifications were built in 1862 and served in both World Wars. As well as the two original cannons, which are still there, you can learn about the history of the site and enjoy superb views of The Needles. The small, free New Battery exhibition tells the story of the site's use during the Cold War as a testing center for rockets.
