The whole history of Dorset is to be embraced here, from the dinosaurs to the Victorian era, the Romans and the work of Thomas Hardy. The Victorian Hall, with its balconies and carved columns is striking. Also worth seeing is the Jurrassic Coast Gallery, which contains fossils of sea monsters, dinosaur footprints and marine skeletons. This is the city's flagship visit, not to be missed by all lovers of heritage and archaeology and to better understand the natural and human history of this region with its rich past.
