This beautiful fortress enjoys an incomparable location at the mouth of the River Dart. Built in the 15th century to defend the coast and merchants who feared reprisals from their competitors, it features impressive cannons. Today, we no longer wait for attackers from the top of the towers, but enjoy the magnificent view over the surrounding area. Don't hesitate to take the short hike from the town center to the castle - it's well signposted and a pleasure to do. A cream tea awaits you in the small café.
