A visit to Plymouth without a visit to The Hoe is not a complete visit! This is undoubtedly the park with the best panoramic views of the bay. Its shady paths and soft lawns make it the ideal spot for a picnic, right next to Smeaton's Tower lighthouse. In summer, locals and visitors alike enjoy a dip in the sublime Art Deco Tinside Lido swimming pool, dating from 1935. To the west lies the spectacular Royal Citadel, Britain's most impressive 17th-century fortress.
