In 1805, England was at war with Napoleonic France and was holding thousands of French prisoners. Prisons in the seaside town of Plymouth weren't considered secure enough, so this one was built in the desert area of Dartmoor. Still in operation today, a visit to the museum has an eerie, yet fascinating feel. An original and authentic visit to make in the region after or before going for a walk. One of the UK's most famous prisons.
