This beautiful Regency-style building, surrounded by parkland, was built in the 1830s by the wealthy Joseph Pitt. The Pump Room soon became an attraction for the famous local water, discovered in 1715. In 1788, King George III and Queen Charlotte came to take the waters, giving the place its reputation. The spring emerges into the park, where you can taste the alkaline, salty water. The auditorium is also open to the public.
