GROSVENOR MUSEUM
The Grosvenor Museum brings together a very beautiful collection depicting the Roman period of Chester and the construction of its fortifications. Archaeological exhibits resulting from excavations on the amphitheatre site are described: pottery, coins, pins and necklaces, paralyses, legionnaire equipment… On the first floor, a section is devoted to natural specimens of Victorian age: stuffed birds, quartz, butterflies, as well as a large gallery on silver (in Georgian times, Chester made it a fruitful trade). A short video also recounts the history of the city, from its origins to the present.
