NANTWICK MUSEUM
This nice museum presents the city of Nantwich through the activities that made its prosperity and the most important events in its history. A gallery is dedicated to ship salt, the oak carcass of a 700-year-old boat, whose salt is removed from a sea water source on the banks of the Weaver River. This activity was central to the city, which made its prosperity. Mirrors arranged around the structure and explanatory diagrams make it possible to have a complete overview. The Cheese Room teaches everything about cheese production, another speciality of the city and the region. It contains tools used by local manufacturers, photographs and a video documenting the manufacturing processes. Another piece presents the Big Battle of Nantwick, the battle that pitted parliamentarians from the city in royalist. In particular, there is an original document written by Sir Thomas Fairfax, who was the head of these 25 000 parliamentarians. A last gallery is reserved for temporary exhibitions of local artists.
