CHURCH STRETTON VILLAGE
Nicknamed "Little Switzerland", the village of Church Stretton is nestled in the heart of the AONB Shropshire Hills protected area. It is the starting point for many bucolic and invigorating hikes. The most popular drive is 5.7 km to the top of Caer Caradoc, 459 metres high. The panorama over the surrounding countryside is breathtaking. Once up there, old defensive ramparts, vestiges of the occupation of the hills since the Iron Age, are surveyed. The climb is steep and the descent is reputed to be even steeper! Fortunately, you can count on a few pubs to get your strength back once you get to the village.... Feel free to go through the tourist office for local itineraries and attractions.
