COALPORT CHINA MUSEUM
From 1796 to 1926, the village of Coalport was home to one of Britain's most famous porcelain factories. In the 19th century, the site saw the passing of great names, experts in the decorative arts. They were in charge of decorating the rooms with flowers, cherubs or motifs influenced by the famous workshops of Sèvres. The porcelains were shown at international events, which made the reputation of local mastery famous. We discover in particular the Northumberland Vase, designed for the London World Fair in 1862. Decorated by William Cook and Robert Abraham, it is the largest piece ever made by the workshop.
