DARBY HOUSES
Rosehill and Dale House are two houses that once belonged to the Darby dynasty, very powerful Ironbridge industrialists. They can now be visited restored and refurnished as they were in the 19th century, with objects and clothing that belonged to its owners, as well as period furniture and paintings. As the family is Quaker, the austere style of the place offers a much more sober spectacle than that to which the rich Victorian interiors can usually accustom us. Dale House was built by Abraham Darby I, founder of the Coalbrookdale Company. It has been the family home for five generations and it is here that the tycoon welcomed his customers and did his business.
