This museum is dedicated to master glassmaker and jeweler René Lalique and his successors. Here you'll discover some of the magnificent creations made over the years. To better understand the techniques used to make these pieces, take the time to watch the two films on glassmaking at the end of your visit. They are particularly instructive. This visit is a great opportunity to discover these little glass treasures, some of which you can buy in the boutique before, why not, having lunch in the restaurant.

Das herrlich in die Landschaft integrierte Museum wurde im Hochsommer 2011 im elsässischen Wingen eröffnet, wo der berühmte Designer René Lalique (1860 - 1945) 90 Jahre zuvor seine noch heute bestehende Glaswarenfabrik gegründet hatte. Die Tradition der Glasherstellung geht in dieser Region bis ins Mittelalter zurück und das Museum befindet sich auf dem Glashüttenstandort Hochberg, wo bereits zwischen 1715 und 1868 Glas hergestellt worden war. René Lalique, der als 'Erfinder des modernen Schmucks' gilt, hatte schon eine lange Karriere als Jugendstilkünstler vorzuweisen, als er sich der neuen Firma im Elsass zuwandte. Kundinnen wie Sarah Bernhardt hatten Schmuck aus seiner Hand getragen und in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Parfümeur François Coty waren legendäre Flakons entstanden. In Wingen entwarf Lalique nun Arbeiten aus Glas, die bereits um 1925 als Meisterstücke der innovativen Art-Déco-Bewegung gepriesen wurden. So gestaltete seine 'Cristallerie' z. B. den Orientexpress oder die neuen, luxuriösen Ozean-Passagierschiffe ebenso wie die Kühlerfiguren von hochpreisigen Autos. Das Museum zeigt mit seinen etwa 650 Exponaten einen feinen Querschnitt des historischen und modernen Schaffens des Hauses und ist, gelinde gesagt, total hinreissend. Einen Besuch (Ticket 8€) darf man sich nicht entgehen lassen! ????????????
