WHITWORTH ART GALLERY
This 125-year-old gallery reopened in 2015, after £15 million of renovations to make it a landmark attraction in the city. With a doubled surface area, it can now preserve some 55,000 works of modern and contemporary art, including a large collection of textile works. For her comeback in style, she received temporary exhibitions from Cornelia Parker, Cai-Guo-Qiang and Thomas Schütte. In the long term, we can always see great masters such as Gauguin, Van Gogh, Picasso, William Blake, Francis Bacon or Jacob Epstein. Next door, Whitworth Park is very pleasant for a walk in the countryside.
