THE LIGHT HOUSE BOAT
By joining the Albert Dock, you will certainly notice this boat of a pimpant red crowned with a lighthouse. On one of the sides of the hull, the word "BAR" is written in white capitals, but you will unfortunately not be able to drink a pint on board. here, "bar" means the border between the Mersey River and the Irish Sea. The boat that was parked was intended to meet the ships entering the port to help them pass through this area through rapid currents and access the port. Specialized pilots took the helm and turned the boat into the port. Replaced by modern radar, this «lighthouse boat» now has no function other than to adorn the dock entrance.
