TATE LIVERPOOL
We knew the two Tates of the capital, fewer people know that they have had an annex here since 1988, on the Albert Dock docks. And yet, at the origin of everything was the fortune of a Liverpuldian businessman: Henry Tate. A sugar magnate and philanthropist, he founded an art gallery in London from his private collection, exhibited since 1897. In Liverpool, three floors present works from the 16th century to the present day. The works of modern and contemporary artists are particularly numerous. We find Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, René Magritte, Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol. The sections are organized around themes, rather than movements or generations. The approach is intended to be attractive and open to the general public. A space is also dedicated to temporary programming, often for a fee.
