KIRKSTONE PASS INN
Expect a change of scenery: the Kirkstone Pass Inn is located at an altitude of more than 450 metres, at the crossroads of the roads linking Ambleside, Windermere and Ullswater. Since 1496, it has been welcoming travellers looking for a bed, a meal or simply a pint. On the ground floor, a vast pub-restaurant that is very typical and warm, much appreciated by walkers. Upstairs, several bedrooms with bathrooms, double or family. All around, the tranquility and nature as far as the eye can see, facing the surrounding mountains and valleys below. For tight budgets ready for more spartan conditions, a bunkhouse, a kind of refuge with dormitory, is part of the site and can accommodate up to twelve people. Roy Green, the owner, took over the premises a few years ago.
