LANGDALE PIKES
This is the most famous ascent of Ferry Valley, Ferry Pike is emblematic of the Lake District, visible throughout the park. It is rather difficult, however, and it should be prepared upstream. The trail starts at the Parking Ghyll car park on the B 5343. Follow the Stickle Ghyll Path to the lake of Stickle Tarn, on the east side of Ferry Pike. Once at the top, several paths lead to the summit. Not all of them are visible, however, and we must move carefully. The most borrowed Contourne bypasses from the East before branching west towards Harrison Stickle to reach a large plateau at 736 meters altitude. The view is fabulous and you can take advantage of the nearby summits of Loft Crag and Pike of Stickle. The simplest descent follows the path you have already borrowed, but you can opt for an alternative, directed at Mark Gate via Loft Crag.
