In 1901, one year after the death of the famous John Ruskin, his friend and confidant W.G. Collingwood gave birth to this small museum to pay tribute to him. In addition to an exhibition on the life of the prodigy and its beautiful mountain watercolours, the history of Coniston has been taught from prehistory to its mining past. Geology occupies a beautiful place, as well as the life of the premises, famous and unknown.
