The construction of the small Carlisle Cathedral dates back to 1122, under the reign of Henry I. Unfortunately, it was severely damaged in 1644 and 1645, when the attacked city used the stones in its nave to reinforce its walls. It was only restored in the 19th century, but it has nevertheless been able to preserve some elements of its original beauty, whose window is, dating from the 14th century, the triptych of Brougham and a magnificent crypt. Feel free to enter for its rich architecture combining Norman and Gothic styles.
