DURHAM CASTLE
This little marvel, classified by UNESCO, is priceless during a passage to Durham. Its construction began in 1072 on the orders of Guillaume the Conqueror to establish its dominion over the north of the country. The bishops of the city then put their suitcases and successively enlarge the castle. In 1837 Bishop Edward Maltby offered the University Building to compete with her counterparts in the South. Today, it is the lucky students of this noble institution who make their schools discover the curious. The visit is fascinating, including the Great Dining Room of the Great Hall and a rare Norman chapel of historic value.
