This station is the oldest of the nine railway stations in the city and is a true Neo-Renaissance architectural monument. Its author, Constantin Thon, also designed the famous Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow. The station is the twin of the Moscow station in St. Petersburg, which it connects. The connection to St. Petersburg is its most famous line, but this station also hosts international lines to Scandinavian countries. Finally, there are also suburban trains to Khimky, Kline, Konakovo and Twer.
